CN Tower

BY FAR. My favourite day yet here in Toronto with my Miss Teen family. Really, these girls are becoming family to me, the fact I get to see them every day is just amazing. I’ve been making a huge effort to learn everyones name, story, and become friends hopefully! I’d love to have lasting friendships with 61 other girls from across Canada so the next time I’m in their province I can visit.

This was the day we went to the CN tower, shopping, MuchMusic “New Music Live”, and met Zack Warner from Canadian Idol. Very eventful day, was influenced a lot by their inspirations in the media from all their experiences. This was a very important day because we got to show ourselves off to the world and see how we would react to a lot of media attention. Cameras were going off EVERYWHERE in the mall. I felt really important, but maintained being humble anytime someone wanted a picture, I felt honoured really! I was probably more excited to take the photo than they were!

Sitting on the glass floor.

First we went to the CN tower while the 4 girls chosen to come back to CityLine and redo the workout in front of the camera more focussed on them. The CN tower is the highest structure in Canada, and you can tell! It just sticks out of the top of the buildings when you look around Toronto, you can honestly see it from many kilometres away. The most fun thing was going to the glass floor room and look down. We also went up in an elevator going 22mph. Your ears would pop going up and you kind of got dizzy if you looked down. We went into a room where it was just glass windows and like a regular room up high. I found a spider outside one of the windows, I reallllllllyyyyyy wanted a photo of it on the city skyline, but the spider was shaking in the wind so my camera didn’t focus. I tried to get

Megha to help me with her professional fancy camera. I hope it worked! Then we went to the glass floor and took lots of artsy pictures that we Instagram-med. After that we went to an out door area where we could see through a cage screen thing all of the city. It looked amazing, all the sounds of the city echoed around us, it was amazing. Lastly we went back down to the gift shop then left to the scavenger hunt!

To kill time waiting for the CityLine athletes we went to an old distillery that was remodelled with shops and cafes in it. It was all old designed looking with bricks and rusty cars and old signs, it was totally my style, absolutely gorgeous. I loved going there. At this place Rob Campbell, the man who sets up our blogs, created a scavenger hunt for us with 48 cards with free gifties on them for 62 of us.

Shirt I bought at H&M, I love cats...

But since there were 2 buses and the one arrived WAY earlier than the other there really wasn’t any prizes to be found the time we got there. Although some girls were sweet enough to share their prizes since some had found 5-10! Courtney shared her oyster card with me, Jamie and Dakota also got them. So we went to the sea food place and tried oyster.

Distillery shops.

It was very very salty and slimy. The texture was very unique, I’m not sure what the taste could be compared to. Once we finished the scavenger hunt a lot of us went and bought ice cream, then we took some photos then off to the Eaton Centre!!

The activity I was most excited for this day was going to the Eaton Centre, I had never been to that mall, plus the stores are way better than anything we have in Regina. They have Victoria’s Secret, PINK, Juicy Couture, H&M, Forever 21, the list goes on!! Just amazing stores with great deals. The Eaton Centre was so generous as to give us a $50 gift certificate to the entire mall which we were to spend on lunch, then whatever other shopping we wanted. The only thing we had to do was promote their mall by taking a few photos and writing our names down with the photographer. Then we were free to shop! We went about 10 girls per chaperone and got to go to about 5 stores in the mall. We went to Victoria’s Secret, Shopper’s drug mart for eye lashes and anything we forgot, MAC Cosmetics, Steve Madden shoes, GUESS

At the little shops.

Accessories, and H&M. I didn’t get to go to all the stores I would have liked to, but I’m staying an extra day in Toronto with my parents because we’ve never been here before, so we can go to the mall all day on Sunday if we really wanted to. I bought perfume and a shirt on our shopping spree with the pageant girls!

Next we went to New.Music.Live at MuchMusic. We got to sit on the couch and talk to the hosts. The day we went was the premiere of Hedley’s new music video “Kiss You Inside Out.” We thought Hedley was coming, but they weren’t. Our hopes were not crushed what so ever though, because we all got to get photos with the VJ Jesse Giddings, and in most photos he kissed us on the cheek. I was awestruck after this! I turned into a little 13 year old giddy, crazy, obsessed fan girl!! I was so excited, even once I got back into the hotel room I was still gabbing to Aspen about it.

Zack Warner speaking to us.

Lastly we went back to the hotel and in our room we did rehearsals in we got to listen to Zack Warner speak about show business and his life story in the music industry. He told us the highs and lows, and the raw truth about how hard it is to make it. He admitted to us he never did make it as an artist, but got a lucky opportunity and made it as a entertainment lawyer. He pretended to be one in a famous producers office, and eventually was hired by people who became big in the business. Fake it till you make it I guess? I’m glad I don’t really have an interest in pursuing a modelling or media career because it seems so flakey and hard to get into even if you are good. Because people like Nicki Minaj can make it because she has star power, repertoire, and uniqueness. But with someone who has amazing talent but is dull and self conscious, they won’t make it no matter how good they are talent wise, if they aren’t interesting, people won’t hire them. He told us the honest truth

Jesse Giddings :)

about these media experiences he had, and it really helped because living in a fantasy isn’t ever the best because we need reality to kick us so we can pursue something we’re best fit for. Zack Warner definitely gave me the best pieces of advise I had learned this week, I wish I had taken notes on him, because I’ve probably already forgotten some very valuable knowledge he told us.

This was the funnest day, even though we didn’t accomplish anything in doing rehearsals, but we got once in a life time experiences that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. We need to live our lives to the fullest and no be afraid to do things like ask a celebrity for a picture when we know it will never happen again, and we can’t be embarrassed because we’ll never see him or her again. Go all out, go hard or go home, thats what I’m living by on this day.

Eating an Oyster!

This motto especially applies to pageant walking because I’m a little shy about “breaking” the hip when I walk, but I realized thats what the judges like so I will score better if I just do it, bite the bullet and have fun.
